This is the best known song for organ and was written by Bach. It tends to be associated with horror or scary themes. The song is 300 years old. Music is passed down by way of sheet music, so how it actually sounds and the length of the song depends on who plays it and what organ it was played on. This 9:05 recording here was made August 1970 and played by Daniel Chorzempa on an organ in Breda, Netherlands.

The song is divided in two parts. The first is the Toccata and the second is the Fugue. In this song the Fugue starts 2:47 into the song. A lot of Bach's organ songs had two parts: the first being a Prelude, a Fantasia (http://www.music.vt.edu/musicdictionary/textf/Fantasia.html), or a Toccata (http://www.music.vt.edu/musicdictionary/textt/Toccata.html) and the second part being the Fugue. The Fugue is the conclusion of the song. My favorite part of the song is the Toccata.

Bach is my favorite classical musician. I like organ and harpsichord music.

you post links to alot of great uploaded tunes. I also really liked the islamic music you posted links to, not too long ago.

I hear alot of common classical music and opera etc, but i never have any clue as to who it's written or played/sung by, so i don't get to enjoy it by playing it myself. I only get to enjoy it when i hear them by chance.

A while ago i went to a concert by katie and maggie noonan (brisbane artists), who did a mother daughter concert, they did a famous opera duo... something about flowers? I dont know who its by, i can't ever remember the names or the years they are from or who performed them... all i know is, that when i hear such tunes, i really REALLY enjoy them.

There is an italian opera tune featured in the untouchables movie and also i heard it in a seinfeild episode (the one where crazy joe divola dresses up as the clown? miriaci? i dont know) ... that song is so famous, played so many times, everyone knows the name and the origins... except me. All i know is that i sing it while making lasagna, even though i dont know the words, and then it makes me cry.

The Untouchables soundtrack (http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&token=&sql=10:4q61mpn39f8o) was written by Ennio Morricone, who did a lot of other movie soundtracks.

Picturing you crying while making lasagna seems like a scene out of a pasta commercial because it is the stereotypical Italian mother. You've got all the elements of being a great mother; cooking pasta and being emotional. If you do not have children in your life I will be disappointed.

Wonderful eclectica!!! I didn't have that!Music is passed down by way of sheet music, so how it actually sounds and the length of the song depends on who plays itSo very true ...which is why I download 10 or 20 versions and decide which I like best.

Could you post the link to the mp3 of Fantasia? It's one of my very favorites. All I got was some guy giving me musical definitions.

My other favorites are Stravinsky - The Rite of Spring and Mussorgsky - A Night On Bald Mountain

I'll keep that http://www.3-3-3.org/forum/images/smilies/tune.gif Bach - Toccata & Fugue in D Minor (http://www.p2pjihad.org/eclectica/J.%20S.%20Bach%20-%20organ%20Toccata%20and%20Fugue%20in%20D%20Minor,%20BWV%20565%20(Daniel%20Chorzempa).mp3) forever now!

This looks like the soundtrack listing to it here (http://songs.allofmp3.com/mcatalog.shtml?group=3210&album=1). I don't have the soundtrack but I've heard the version of Bach's song from it and it was played with strings rather than organ.
