heres a wierd word and a wierd concept

Anatta - Not-Self
Unique to Buddhism
During his enlightenment experience as he sat under the Bodhi tree the Buddha saw there was no such thing as a permanent soul.
What we nominally call the soul or personality is madeup of five factor known as Khandas (Literally = Heaps) none of which, either peperately or together, can be viewed as a permanent self or soul.
They are perception, feeling, corporeality, consciousness, and mental formation (including will)

great concept

Our consciousness includes our memories. We are always in the past a little, because by the time we are aware of something it is already in the past. So the only difference between our consciousness and our memories is that our consciousness tends to focus more on events that occurred in the near past, which is what we call the "present", while memories tend to focus more on the further past. There really isn't too much of a difference between consciousness and memories. Without memories we would have no consciousness and no soul.

Don't forget too how the power of genetics keeps us pretty consistent through life, giving us our personality and mannerisms. If it weren't for the tempering genetic factor people would be more dynamic in their behaviors, and social relationships wouldn't last as long.

i believe we are shaped over our lifetimes
but all people have certain things that are thiers only (in personality)
little children can be very unexpected at times because of this
we have physical sides to it aswell
how it links in with the brains storage and everything is somewhat difficult to study

According to the teaching of the Buddha, all conditioned things (sa.mskaara) are impermanent (anitya) and dukkha, and that all conditioned and unconditioned things (dharma) are without self (anaatma)
